MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) — With the blare of air horns, cheers and a champagne toast, "The Ship That Would Not Die" returned Wednesday to its home at a maritime museum on Charleston Harbor on the South Carolina coast.
Just after sunrise, the World War II destroyer USS Laffey was towed slowly down the Cooper River to the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum. It was moved more than two years ago to a dry dock so its hull could be repaired at a cost of about $9 million.

Bob Wallace passes away
Bob Wallace passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012.
Bob was past Chairman and a Director Emeritus of the USS Yorktown Association. For many years he was also the Editor and Publisher of the quarterly Sea V Ten Newsletter. We will surely miss Bob as a leader, friend and dear shipmate. Below is a Memoriam provided by Bob's daughter, Paula Aloi.

One on One with heroes of the USS Yorktown
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. -- "I love America, and I am proud to be a part of this family," said U.S.S. Yorktown Veteran Ben Couillard.
On Saturday, people visiting the U.S.S. Yorktown had the opportunity of a lifetime. That's because they had the chance to meet some of the brave crew members who served on the retired aircraft carrier.
The event was the Yorktown's 63rd annual reunion, and it gave veterans a chance to retell their stories of bravery and sign autographs.
